Generic Front-Month Symbol for Studies / Ratios

Hello,

I am looking for a way to reference the current/front futures contract dynamically from studies.

I am not referring to Continuous Futures Contract Charts or back-adjusted data.

For example, instead of a ratio or Add Additional Symbol study containing:

NQU26-CME / ESU26-CME

I would like to reference something equivalent to:

NQ-FRONT / ES-FRONT

where Sierra Chart automatically resolves each symbol to the current contract at rollover.

This becomes problematic in large Chartbooks containing many ratios, dashboards, panels, Add Additional Symbol studies, and custom ACSIL studies. Hard-coded contract months require updating many symbol references every rollover and make it easy for stale contracts to remain somewhere in the Chartbook.

Is there currently any supported method to use a generic current/front-month futures symbol as a study Input?

If not, could this functionality be considered?

Ideally it could also support relative contracts such as:

FRONT
FRONT+1
FRONT+2

This would be particularly useful for ratios, spreads, term-structure panels, and larger intermarket dashboards.

Thank you.

The Chart >> Perform Futures Symbol Rollover menu, Sierra rolls every chart from old to new symbol. For NQ/ES, you'd only need to do this every quarter, and roll those two symbols.

Pro-Tip for other readers of this post...you can even "roll" from ES to NQ and switch symbols.

When you rollover, you have the option to also rollover "Add Additional Symbol" symbols. And any other chart that is being referenced to create something new (such as a ratio chart where you use a "Study/Price Overlay") would be taken care of by having both charts rolled over.

In terms of ACSIL, you should not reference a specific symbol. Rather, you should check the symbol of the chart and then use that symbol. Then, the rollover will resolve any issues with an ACSIL study.
