I completed all steps on the Using Chat for 'Remote Alert Notifications' documentation tab, and subsequently, all steps om the 'Integration with Mobile Ntfy Application'. I finally completed step 25, pressing subscribe, which supposedly should be the last. However I was met with a login page, and prompted to enter a username and password. Having created a non-public group according to the remote alert section, I believe my 'service URL' (also not mentioned in the docs) should be their (NTFY's) default public server- https://ntfy.sh. Nonetheless this led me to being prompted for user and pass, which infers the 'topic' is inaccessible/protected without authentication. But again, any kind of recommendation for which service URL to use is not mentioned in the docs. Neither, is the occurrence of a login prompt. So, what service URL do I use in my situation? And, once this stage is emended, will I be prompted for a log in once more? If so, how do I move past said step? |

Step #16 at the following link (for the NTFY setup) has you set the default server to our Sierra Chart server: Chat and Communications Platform: Integration with Mobile Ntfy Application You would NOT be using the NTFY default server. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I have set that as default server, I am asking about the 'service URL'. I have now attempted setting it for both, and am still prompted for a login at the add subscription step. If I use the same push notifs user and pass provided by sierra for this login required page, it says 'this user is not authorised access'

Normally, when you have set the default server to be "https://push.sierrachart.com", then this should be what is set in the "Service URL" that shows up when you add a new user. We are seeing on our iPhone that this is not occurring, which is interesting, as we changed the instructions to set the default specifically due to an issue with how NTFY handles these things. If you have already setup a User with the Service URL for NTFY, then you can remove that user and start over. When you add a user, be sure to enter the "Service URL" as "https://push.sierrachart.com" and enter the Username/Password as given when you performed Step #11 (see Steps #19 and #20). Then continue with the rest of the setup as defined at this link: Chat and Communications Platform: Integration with Mobile Ntfy Application For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Note that we have updated the documentation for this, so Step #19 now has you check that the Service URL is set correctly and has you set it if not.

I have removed and re-entered the user and pass, and set both the default server and service URl to https://push.sierrachart.com/ . After re adding the user, I am no longer prompted for a log-in but still told user: (my user) “is not authorised to read this topic”. Seems like progress to me in fairness, but still not quite there. Again, I have followed the documentation thoroughly and set my sierra-native “chat group” to be non-public, so I am not sure why I don’t have “authorisation” to access the topic. Any ideas? Perhaps I need to create a new/different sort of chat group?

If you are getting an error on NTFY that states "is not authorised to read this topic", then that would mean that something on the NTFY side is not setup correctly. We would recommend starting over again with NTFY (we know, we are sorry to put you through this) and be sure to start at Step #9 at the following link: Chat and Communications Platform: Integration with Mobile Ntfy Application You will need to select the button for "Toggle Push Notifications" twice, once to turn it 'off' and then again to turn it 'on'. When you turn it on again, you will get a new Username/Password. make sure you note these exactly as they are and enter them as needed in NTFY. Started over and re-toggled the push notifs. All is sorted now. Thank you for your help and quick responses once again! |
