Hi I am currently trying to automate backtests. I have a .dll file. however the backtesting is really slow. sierra charts is using 5% CPU, Memory 154.8mb. The computer is only using 8% CPU and 60% memory. i have only one chart open . I have hidden all studies on it.I have disconnected from the Data feed. I am using I am using Bar based backtest. the time increment is set to 1000. I am testing 6 months on the NQ. session time is set to 14:30-17:00 and evening session is disabled. It is taking about 8 hoyrs to complete a test. Have you any ideas what could be causing this? thanks for your help |

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the amount of time it is going to take will depend on the number of bars. So 6 months of data with 1 hour bars will be 60 times faster than the same 6 months with 1 minute bars. Other items to check on related to how the back test works and improving performance can be found in this section: Auto Trade System Back Testing: Bar Based Back Testing For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
