If I change my tick size (Chart Settings > Symbol > Tick Size) from 0.25 to 0.5, I would like to know what are the gotchas to expect when trading from Sierra Chart? For now, I know 2 things - Risk-Reward tool is halved - OCO orders are also halved The reason why I change the Tick Size is because I do not have a need for that level of detail. Also, I would like my volume profile/delta profile on that chart to be more "condensed". Thank you. |

It is best not to change the Tick Size. To adjust the Volume Profile to aggregate multiple price levels, change the "Ticks per Volume Bar" input for that study. Refer to the following: Volume By Price Study: Ticks Per Volume Bar Also, there is the "Volume at Price Multiplier" which you can use to affect all volume related studies, including the Volume by Price and Numbers Bars. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Volume at Price Multiplier for Historical/Intraday Chart (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Volume at Price menu) If you want to aggregate Market Depth data in the DOM, then use the "Market Depth Combine Increment in Ticks" setting. Refer to the following: Chart Settings: Market Depth Combine Increment in Ticks (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Market Depth menu) Chart Settings: Apply Combine Increment in Ticks to Other Market Data Columns (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Market Depth menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

Hmmm, I see. Than you for the much simpler alternatives! Here are some follow up qns: - Can I check if I have something like Ticks Per Volume Bar of 2 and Tick size of 1. Should the newly changed settings be 8 and 0.25 (ie product should be 2, this seems to yield similar volume profiles) - Chart Settings: Volume at Price Multiplier for Historical/Intraday Chart (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Volume at Price menu) seems buggy. If you increase it, the Tick per Volume Bar increases for each volume-related study but decreasing it does not decrease for each volume-related study it |

This will give the same results. Chart Settings: Volume at Price Multiplier for Historical/Intraday Chart (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Chart Data >> Volume at Price menu) seems buggy. If you increase it, the Tick per Volume Bar increases for each volume-related study but decreasing it does not decrease for each volume-related study it
This is correct functioning. The volume studies need to be set to an even multiple of the "Volume at Price Multiplier". Therefore, if you increase this larger than what is set for a study (such as the "Ticks per Volume Bar" for the Volume by Price study) then the study will change to that new value. But if you decrease it smaller than what is set for the study, then the study will stay the same, or change to as close as it can to the currently set value to keep an even multiple.
