I am building my trading workstation, where I will run multicharts, Sierra chart, Bookmap and TOS applications. My question is which CPU would be good to run all these apps? I see the following CPU recommendations for each app - 1> Bookmap CPU: Modern Intel Core i9/AMD Ryzen 9 (or better) with 8+ cores ² (consistent 3GHz+) 2> Multicharts - Octa Core 4 GHz or higher 3> Sierra chart - minimum 4 core CPU 4> TOS - 4+ cores Which of the following processors would be good - 1> Intel® Core™ i9-15900K Desktop Processor 24 cores - 8P + 16E cores, so only 8 dedicated cores for primary tasks like charting, order. 2> Ryzen 9 9950X - 16 cores 3> AMD Threadripper 7960X Do these apps require dedicated cores(in which case total cores required would be around 24 cores) or they can share CPU cores? If they need dedicated cores, then, my only option is to buy threadripper or attach multiple CPUs. |

Overkill for Sierra, not enough for TOS.

If they need dedicated cores, then, my only option is to buy threadripper or attach multiple CPUs. AFAIK cores cannot be "dedicated" to the exclusion of other process. An application can be assigned to a core, but it cannot prevent other processes from using the same core. |
