Hello Sierra Chart, What is the preferred method for testing and/or displaying the real-time latency with Sierra Charts? How can I determine the true latency in milliseconds from the terminal to the server? I understand the DD in the Region Line is the difference between the current time and time of the Last Trade (or Last Bid / Ask Update time), but is this also the delay from the terminal to the server as I see this actively changing from mid 100's to mid 300's? Thank you |

Hi John, Both. Data for how long it takes to actually receive and see what is happening. Trading for how long it takes for an order to be sent and executed. |

Follow the instructions here to enable NTP: Network Time Protocol Client: Usage Also refer to: Network Time Protocol Client: Operating System Privileges for Setting Time When your computer's clock is set accurately, the Data Delay field, will accurately indicate the actual delay from the time stamping of trades and bid/ask updates, from the exchange order processor. Giving you a very precise measurement, of how much of a delay there is of the data you are seeing in Sierra Chart. That field will be updated every two seconds. So it is not every trade. Hi SC, What/where is the Data Delay Field you mention in post #4? I did a quick search on the phrase and could not find what you are refering to. Thx |

It is an option for display in the "Chart Header". When selected, it will show as "DD:" in the Chart Header. Refer to the following: Global Settings Menu: Customize Chart Header - Standard (Global Settings menu) For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

The data delay field is flickering between 00:10:10.100 and 00:10:10.300 ms multiple times a second. I've enabled NTP client according to the instructions and the round trip delay according to message log is hovering around 110 ms. Is it normal or do I have to make some adjustments to fix that? |

What you are seeing is normal. There is nothing you can do about this, as it is the amount of delay you are going to see due to the use of the Public Internet and the fact that the data originates in Chicago.

When trading EUREX futures do I have to change my NTP server to something other than Sierra charts US server for the data delay field to be accurate? I'm assuming that the data that I receive will incur a larger delay compared to CME since it has to travel from EUREX servers to Sierra charts US server and then back to me (I'm in Europe). You do not need to change your NTP server. The data for EUREX does not come to the US first, it comes straight out of Frankfurt, so you should see lower latency for that data.
