Hello,

In Symbol Settings, I have Trade Position Limit set to a quantity >1 (see attached screenshot). Sierra, however, is allowing orders greater than this limit to be executed - why?

Thanks

You should not be able to enter a position which would increase the total quantity to 3 or more. This would include a single order with a quantity of 3 or more, or an additional order that would increase the position to be 3 or more.

That being said, the only thing we can think of that might be an issue is that we see that you are using both Rithmic and Teton. The change you made was to the Teton symbol setting. You would also need to make this same change in the instance you have connected to Rithmic for the Rithmic symbol. So we wonder if you maybe are having an issue with a different symbol that does not have this setup for it.

Thanks for the quick response. The issue today is with my Teton account so there appears to be something wrong with the setting not working as intended.

Is this still being reviewed? Just want to make sure since I've not heard anything since I replied last night.

We see what the problem is. At the top of the Symbol Settings window there is the option:
Use Custom Symbol Settings Values.

You need to enable that.

That setting was/is checked so that is not the issue.

It is not checked in the screenshot that you included in the first post.

That must be the issue. We have done a test and we do not see any problems.

We tested this:
2025-10-02 10:31:21.819 | Trade Order Error - Order with quantity 1 will cause symbol settings Position limit to be exceeded. Limit: 1. MaximumPotentialPositionQuantity: 2. Position: -1. Internal Order ID: 81498. Service Order ID: (none). Symbol: ESZ25_FUT_CME. Account: Test102 *

Hmm, that is strange. I have rebooted Sierra numerous times since then and never did anything to that setting (didn't even know it existed). I wonder why it was unchecked before and is checked now?

We cannot answer that question. That setting can only be manually enabled and disabled. It is not automatically controlled anywhere.
