Every time I change the tick size in chart settings for the stock ticker DUOL, it changes while I stay on the on the stock. The moment I change the stock and visit DUOL stock back, it changes back to original tick size before I changed it. The issue could be that it is set through Global settings but I cannot revert back to a custom tick size for that stock. I want a custom tick size only for that stock that way whenever I visit that stock back, I do not have to change it on the number bars. Thanks, Abhay |

Hi this makes sense. It kept the tick size the same but for all the instruments in the watch list. Some instrument need a tick size different than others. I tried searching on Sierra chart and found that there is a way to do it using pattern recognition of ?,??,???,???? etc where the '?' refers to the letter of the stock iteself but still does not solve my problem. A stock with 4 letters (for exam DUOL & FFAI) may require completely different size of ticks even though they both fall in the same category of naming pattern.

One thing you can do is use a separate chart, for each particular Tick Size that you want. Or add new symbols, the literal symbols, to the Global Symbol Settings and set the Tick Size appropriately for each of them: Global Symbol Settings Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I like the latter option although it is time-consuming on the front end to add new symbols. Say I list out all the symbols in the Global Settings>Symbol Settings, how will Sierra chart know that it has to reference the symbol I added whenever I open a stock's chart?

I added literal symbols to the global settings and individually went to each stock selected. Here is what happens: when I apply the global settings to GME stock (tick size 0.03 from global settings), it changes the DUOL stock's tick size to 0.03. Shouldn't it have read the tick size of DUOL from the global settings symbol?

This happens automatically: how will Sierra chart know that it has to reference the symbol I added whenever I open a stock's chart?
Regarding post #6 we are not understanding what you mean. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. To clarify post #6, you can check the screenshots where I apply the global settings to GME stock. You can see that the tick size is 0.03 for that stock in the Symbol list. I click Apply All. Then I go to DUOL stock that requires a different tick size of 1.1 that I had applied already but it changed to 0.03 (GME tick size from global settings). Having the symbol listed did not change anything for this problem unless I am doing something wrong. |

We are still not precisely understanding the sequence, of events. However, being you have modified the Global Symbol Settings for those individual symbols with the Tick Size that you want, make sure this is set to No for the chart: Chart Settings: Do Not Change Symbol Settings for Chart on Symbol Change (Chart >> Chart Settings >> Symbol >> Symbol Settings menu) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
