I'm building out a trading system using simple Chart Alerts, primarily using the "Color Background based on alert condition" study. There are more than a hundred such studies all referencing other custom studies. When I have to change a study ID number for whatever reason, I have to manually check which studies are being affected and update them manually. Is there a safer, more consistent method of doing this in Sierra Chart? |

No there is not an easier way to do this. Although custom studies are able to get and change study Inputs for any other study within the Chartbook. So a custom study could perhaps help with this.

You can change the Input of another study within a custom study. Refer to the following: ACSIL Interface Members - Functions: sc.SetChartStudyInputFloat() Therefore, if you were to change the reference for a study, you could use a custom study to update other studies. But, in the end, it would be best, overall, to just use a custom study to do what you want, since you state that you have over one hundred studies.
