Hello, I guess I'm using the older spreadsheet for trading system study, and so my column "J" doesn't match what is in the documentation. Without risking a live trade, can somebody tell me if these two are equivalent? ** Flatten and Cancel Working Orders (read/write) [J29] [this is what I'm seeing in my spreadsheet] ** Flatten Position and Cancel Working Orders [J29] [this is what I see in documentation] My broker only is allowing "1 contract" so I'm getting errors when closing positions with L3 and N3. Can I just use J29 instead to fully close positions? I don't care about reversals and have those disabled. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2025-07-11 19:04:52

The documentation was incorrect, but it is the same thing. We have updated the documentation to reflect the correct naming.

J29 works to flatten and close my positions when trading with micro contracts. But I cannot auto-trade[EXIT] a single mini, as my broker only allows '1 contract' as the position limit, and L3/N3 buyToExit/SellToExit generate errors like: DTC (Order reject). Info: Rejected at RMS - Total buy quantity of contract would exceed its limit
** I'm stuck not being able to use Teton at the moment, but will be able to later ** If I use "Trade Management By Study" to adjust SL or TP from the spreadsheet, and move the attached orders, that will work ...provided the position has attached orders (it might not due to an error state of them being unset at time of trade entry...that's a condition I watch for in my spreadsheet, and I successfully use J29 to close any errant micro positions that didn't properly get a bracket assigned within a reasonable time) DO I JUST NEED TO FLATTEN THEN CLOSE MY POSITION?...i.e., close working orders then close the parent position? I have enabled global option "General Trade Settings >> Hold Market Order Until Pending Cancel Orders Are Confirmed" and am on SC 2769. Maybe my solution is to just uncheck that global option? I'm using Rithmic atm and another support post said the option is required. I'll be moving to Teton very soon as I am able to; thank you very much for providing Rithmic support all these years. Without it, I wouldn't have been able to use Sierra. I can also switch back to micros, but would be limited to "4" or "5" max contracts, to stay under the broker (2x+1) position limits at time of exit; if I remember correctly, this isn't an issue with Teton, so one more reason to embrace Teton. As I'm concurrently trading both micros and minis, on two different charts, I hope a solution exists to help me exit mini positions. Can a spreadsheet ultimately flatten my single mini position without violating my broker's position limits, similar to just clicking "Flatten" in the trade window? Or can the "Trade Management By Study" be updated with a third option called "Simple Alert Flatten"? I am now also wondering about the study option Cancel All Orders on Entries and Reversals I have it set to "No" as I used to allow reversals. The docs say that setting will cancel ALL orders before entries and reversals. There's also an option called "Cancel All Working Orders on Exit" (set to "No") but there isn't an option called "Cancel ALL Orders on Exit". If SC can cancel all orders, at time of entry/reversal, I'm wondering why J29 cannot cancel all orders also at time of exit, or why there isn't an option called "Cancel ALL Orders On Exit". I must be making this more complicated than it is.

"Cancel All Working Orders on Exit"
This setting is referring to L3/N3 exits, and needs to be Yes if you are using Attached Orders but also possibly exiting with L3/N3.Automated Trading Management: CancelAllWorkingOrdersOnExit |

Thanks Sawtooth, I think I understand now. In the past I was using L3 and N3 to help me scale-out of positions, but I neglected to set CancelAllWorkingOrdersOnExit ;-) [maybe I did that to make reversals work.. I don't remember] Current issue is how to reliably close the position and I think you helped me with that. During my most-recent short position, I think I saw "Error" in the OrderStatus column because SellExit was triggering an offsetting "Market 1 Buy" order to exit the position and my broker's Rithmic limits didn't like that. I will also revise my spreadsheet to not use BuyExit(L3) and SellExit(N3) columns since I don't need to scale-out now. I'll just use J29, and hope that fixes the Rithmic error within the OrderStatus column and that there is a complete flatten and cancel, the same as the Trade Window's "Flatten".
