It is not an error, it is just the nature of the data for the index. It is not the best instrument to start working with Numbers Bars (the CME Group ES instrument is a widely traded instrument that will show the Numbers Bars well).

But, in general it's a matter of scaling to fix what you are looking at. Refer to the information here:

You can use the Hand tool to move the chart up/down/left/right. You just need to enable the following option to get the up/down functioning with it:
Chart Drawing Tools: Support Vertical Scaling/Movement With Hand Tool (Global Settings >> Tool Settings >> General >> Tool Options)

Also refer to the following for how to adjust the scales to either move up/down or increase/decrease spacing:
Chart Scale and Scale Adjusting: Interactive Scaling

And then refer to how to increase/decrease bar spacing (changing the horizontal scale) at the following:
Working With Charts: Changing Bar Spacing

And finally refer to the following for options for the Scroll Wheel on a mouse:
General Settings Window: Scroll Wheel Setting (Global Settings >> General Settings >> GUI >> Scroll)
