Hello, I am experiencing platform lag on Sierra whenever volatile events occur. I am looking at my message log and seeing compression times of up to 2s.. Any help would be appreciated.

We are not sure what is meant by "platform lag".

If you are referring to the data feed lagging then refer to this help topic:
Prices / Data Falling Behind

If you are referring to Sierra Chart being being not responsive or less responsive at times, then refer to:
High CPU Usage | Inactive User Interface | Poor Performance | Long Time to Load Chart Data | Charts Reloading Often

Everything looks very good with the data we see in those heartbeat messages. There is no indication of any issue there.

For an explanation of those different heartbeat message fields, refer to:
Prices / Data Falling Behind: 4.16 - Monitoring Sierra Chart Data Feed Performance from Perspective of Server

There is a formula given to determine the average compression time. You are looking at the total compression time across all compressions.

Thanks, platform lag as in it takes 3 - 4s for the next tick to occur on my chart. My global chart update interval is 500ms.

I am missing a lot of information because of this 3-4s delay to my charts. Price will skip like $2 while my level 2 on DAS trader is showing tons of orders coming through. I am referring primarily to ESH22-CME and $SPX charts.

It shouldn't be a network issue because I have 500mbps up down. and my studies are updating at 0ms. I have totally 20symbols open. my CPU usage for sierra chart is only at 5%.

I have had this same issue recently.

The lag is so bad that I have installed an entirely new installation of Sierra Chart and rebuilt my entire interface from the ground up. I followed all of the help documents with regards to data feed lagging mentioned above and still experience these issues.

I've been a Sierra Chart user for a few years now and just recently have run into this, my computer hardware is well configured, my internet speeds are appropriate as well.

What is supremely odd to me is that the lag just from a DOM perspective can be noticeably different on Teton routing vs CQG vs Rithmic. Which doesn't make sense because the data feed is all Denali. Yet I can switch from Teton routing to CQG and notice a huge difference in speed of my charts and DOM without any other changes.

Videos available if Sierra is interested in looking at it.

Regarding post #4. We are still not clear on exactly the issue.

When you notice this problem and then you you interact with the Sierra Chart user interface, is it sluggish or not responsive?

If not, then just refer to help topic 4:
Prices / Data Falling Behind

Never make this kind of assumption regarding network issues:

It shouldn't be a network issue because I have 500mbps up down. and my studies are updating at 0ms. I have totally 20symbols open. my CPU usage for sierra chart is only at 5%.
The issue is absolutely going to be network/system related if there is no performance issue within Sierra Chart.

Regarding post #5, your issue is completely different. What you are experiencing is a local performance issue within Sierra Chart.

Disconnect from the data feed with File >> Disconnect. Look at the CPU usage of Sierra Chart. It is at 0% or higher?

If you’re referring to me I simply added to the context of the original authors post that I was having a similar issue and noted the symptoms I observed and when those things changed.

Honestly post aimed to be objective because I have been struggling with a similar issue for a few weeks now and looking for help.

Will address in other means if needed.

No. We were referring to someone else's post and their post was deleted. Not you.

We need the information requested regarding CPU usage of Sierra Chart when disconnected. The issue you have could perhaps relate to the Price Multiplier which is used with data with some services like Teton, and also the TT based order routing. Perhaps causing an unnecessary update going on continuously within charts.

It's just sluggish. It does not ever turn unresponsive or white screened or anything. My charts are just updating every 3 - 4s, especially during volatile events like the open, or catalyst events.

In terms of not assuming my network isn't the issue. I don't think the heart beats are indicating any network issue. And I do have 500mbps down. Again my level 2 on a separate platform is updating in milliseconds at 20ms. I just want my charts to match that information as much as possible. I've read through your help topics but they weren't much help, hence why I'm here.

20ms connection with the server I mean (quote and order server with das/ibkr). I have the network monitor always up and recorded since I've been experiencing these lags trying to diagnose the issue.

I don’t want to take away from Jeff’s post so I will make a detailed post of my issue separately.

I did disconnect from the server and CPU usage was 1.4%

Regarding user AC7303484, provide this particular Chartbook following these instructions:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile

Regarding post #11 open a single chart only. Close all other charts and Chartbooks. Use a Historical Daily chart, and open a Time and Sales window through the File menu.

See if you still notice the problem. Do not make the Chart Update Interval lower than 500 ms.

This will help us get more of an idea about the problem.
