How To Have the $VIX Symbol Available In Sierra?

I have an account with infinity futures, I contacted them and asked about this $VIX chart, they said they don't provide this data, they don't connect to CBOE.

I see the symbol listed here:

https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChart_RealTime_And_Historical_Symbols.php&SymbolsPage=Indices#INDEX-CBOE

Is there any way I can have the $VIX in my chart from another data provider, and at the same time be connected to infinity futures server? Otherwise gonna have to open a paid account at tradingview to supplement my analysis, at least they got practically all symbols there.

Thanks

Yes this is supported. You will need a direct Sierra Chart account:
Direct Sierra Chart Account

And if you just need historical data you can just open a chart for $VIX. Or if you want real time data you need to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php#AccessCashIndexMarketData

And you can use this data feed at the same time while connected to Transact and still access the cash indices.

The CBOE changed the availability of the data about six months ago. If you want to get any data from the CBOE indices, then you have to pay for it. To get the CBOE Indices data feed, you need to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed. Refer to the information at the following link, which also includes Setup Instructions:

We really recommend using our new CFE Futures data which provides a volatility index Real-time data. But for the futures. This is less expensive. Refer to:
Denali Exchange Data Feed

Hello,

As a related question, which would be the correct symbol to use on Denali?

VX?##_FUT
VX?##-CFE
VXM?##-CFE

As a related question, which would be the correct symbol to use on Denali?

It depends on what your Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Current Selected Service is set to.

Also, if you using the File >> Find Symbol page, then the symbols in that list are already setup for your current service.

Hunting for the VIX from SC/Denali data? File->Find Symbol->Futures - CFE (Realtime) -> VX?##_FUT_CFE and select the right contract month. Hope this saves your time. :)

Is it possible to get the $VIX CBOE index instead of the CFE Futures?

I get the following error:

" To enable the exchange at least one Real-time Data Connection must be currently active and enabled for Auto-Renewal."

I am not sure what that means.

So you want to get the CBOE volatility index?

Yes.
I had signed up for the exchange which offers VIX future (CFE) but for my style, I prefer the regular VIX Index and not the futures.

When I try to sign up for CBOE indices I get the error listed above.

Hi guys,

I want to use several CBOE indices (not only VIX), but I'm not able to load the data on the charts. I use Denali Feed, for which I saw that there is that option via Futures - CFE (Realtime) for VIX only, which, by the way, is delayed data, not real time.

How can I have access to these indices using Denali Feed?

Thanks,

If you are wanting the VIX Index (not the VIX Futures) then you need to set this up using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed and enable the CBOE Indices exchange. Follow the instructions at the following link:
Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed: Setup Instructions

The CFE exchange that is part of the Denali Exchange Data Feed is the VIX Futures. And the reason you are getting Delayed data for it is because you did not activate the exchange that is part of the Denali Exchange Data feed. If you want the VIX Futures, then follow the instructions at the following link:
Denali Exchange Data Feed: *Setup Instructions: All Other Exchanges*

I get VIX data from Interactive Brokers.
Can Sierra Chart use that? How do I configure it?

Update:
The error below fixed after restarting....
I am able to plot the VIX data from Interactive Brokers on the chart.
