Hi,

On recent releases it turned the Peaks and Valleys
extension lines into small dash. Even if you picked Dot.

Same thing with Show Singles Line as demonstrated
on the photo enclosed.

Thanks as always.

PS Please, please change back.....

Not sure what we can do. Ultimately it is the operating system which is rendering these. And when you select Dot, the operating system is given the proper flag to use a Dot. So that is what it is showing.

We are not sure what changed to cause a difference if indeed there is a difference but we are not going to spend any further time on this. So we are definitively declining further involvement in this and you can rely on that.

There is a difference between Dash and Dot at this point in time with a single pixel width. You can always try to increase the pixel width by one and you then should get more the appearance you are looking for.

We did end up looking into this just now, and we see that there was a different way a dotted line was being created, from the default, but we took out that code and it still looks the same. And that original code has been there for something like 13 years or so. The only obvious change we see is that we are using the extended version of a Windows API function to create a pen. This is all.

And as we said , ultimately how this looks is how the operating system is rendering it. It is not something that we control and probably will be something different once we offer OpenGL.

Previously the width 1 dotted line looked more like the PS_ALTERNATE cosmetic pen (which seems equivalent to PS_DOT geometric pen set to width 1).

Nice to see that microsoft have been consistent in their nomenclature......

Note the difference using Dash Dot in v1803 vs. v1807.

The former is the desired look.

We see the reason for the problem and this will be solved in the next release. In our attempt to resolve this, we ended up creating a new issue involving the chart grid which will also be resolved. But now it is all clear the underlying reason for the problem.

We apologize for the issue but we have just been very busy, and from our perspective this looks like a very minor "cosmetic" detail and still the basic point we were trying to make is that when you specify a dot, that is properly specified to the operating system and how that was being rendered was how the Microsoft OS was rendering it. So you were effectively getting a dot just different than you were expecting. In reality though as has been said above what you really are looking for is "Alternate" and not what Microsoft considers a dot.

So the use of Alternate will be used when you specify Dot, in the next release.

I know you do not like when we do this.
Especially in lieu of how busy
we keep you.

With that said, thank you.
Thank you for persisting for/on a solution.

Hi,

Downloaded new version 1809 and I still got dash on Peaks/Valleys
and such. Also on grid lines if I remember right.

Had to roll back to 1795 for the points on Grid/Singles/Peaks and Valleys.

1798 was not back far enough.
1795 was though.

Just a FYI.

Peace

At this point we are declining further comment on this and we do not want to hear more about this now. This will be looked into in the next couple of weeks, and we will be coming up with a new style most likely.

I am fine with 1795.
I was just posting a JFI for others on this thread as well.

Sometime you are mean/abrupt with me.
I can understand your work load and I also
see how others talk to you.

If your intent was to make and ending post and did not mean to
be abrupt/mean. Does not matter. That is the way you come across.

Try sorry before and same point would be made.
...sorry "we are declining further comment on this and we do not want to hear more about this now."

PS I will still continue to recommend you to the thousand of followers
I have. As I have in the past.
Sorry, I wish I could do more.

Peace

PS I love you

Feedback: Dash-Dot seems back to normal (expected) behaviour in v1809 64-bit (24324:24325).

Thank you. And for the Dot style, we are going to have to add a new style called Alternate. Dot needs to remain as it is specified by Microsoft Windows. This will be looked into next week.

Hi,

This post is a FYI and not a complaint.

I downloaded pre-release 1821/ Alternate is available as a choice for
Peaks and Valleys. When you hit apply the line disappears.

It is also available as a choice for horizontal line.
It also disappears. (Snapshot enclosed)

Would be nice to have as a Grid choice as well. Also a choice for the
quick choice for horizontal line pop up window.

Thanks

I'm running version 1849, and width 1 lines for Price Expansion/Projection/Retracement, and

Parallel Lines/Rays also disappear when Alternate Line Style is chosen, but it works

for almost every other drawing tool.

Could you fix this soon?
