Hi I am using SC with the Zenfire data feed and was told by my broker that if I have a live bracket order, and for some reason my front end software (SC) gets disconnected, when I reconnect, the Take Profit and Stoploss that was part of the original bracket order will no longer be connected as child orders to the original live order position.

So in other words, since all the orders are seperate, I could get filled again on my target and stoploss order because they are still held on the zenfire server as seperate orders.

I'd like to know if there is something in SC that can help me fix this problem so that if I get disconnected, when I re-login to SC, that SC has a way of finding and reconnecting those lingering Take Profit and Stoploss orders on the server back to the original order so that my orders once again have the original parent/child relationship and I don't get multiple orders? Thanks.

On the server side there is no association between the parent and its Attached Orders in the case of Zen fire. So while Sierra Chart is disconnected from the server it cannot manage them. Once it reconnects, it can manage them.

So when Sierra Chart does reconnect, it will manage the relationship. Nothing special to do.

If I have a buy order with a bracket attached and get disconnected. And during the time while I am disconnected my stoploss is hit, will the order be be flattened and simply left with the remaining pending take profit order, or will a separate Sell order be opened up in the opposite direction so that I am both short and long at the same time?

And then if I reconnect after this stop is hit, will SC still show the pending Take Profit order that was leftover (say for example if I'm in chart trading mode)so that I am aware that the order still exists and I must cancel it? I just want to be sure that there is a way for me to be alerted that there are any unfilled orders that must be cancelled once I log back into SC. Thanks again.

Yes. You will see the order in Trade >> Trade Orders and Positions >> Orders. You will still see that order there even when you are disconnected.

In this particular scenario, after Sierra Chart reestablishes the connection to the trading server, it will see that it's sibling Stop order is gone and it will therefore cancel the Target order. That will happen within one minute.

2 additional questions:

1. I use chart trading with the order lines showing on the chart. Will the leftover orders still initially be shown on the chart when SC reconnects? Or would I have to go to the Trade/Trade Orders/Orders page to view the remaining order?

2. So just to be clear, are you saying that once I reconnect with SC, SC will recognize that the other half of the bracket order is missing, and then automatically cancel any orphaned orders that remain? If so, is there a way to make SC do this immediately when relogging in, instead of possibly having to wait up to 1 minutes time? Thanks again.

1. You will see them on the chart as well. Nothing changes with that in regards to Connecting and disconnecting to/from the trade server.

2. Yes.

We will have to see if we can make this process faster. We should be able to do that.

2. We are in the process of changing the Zen fire/Rithmic connection to use a GSP connection and therefore the process of canceling a child that no longer has a sibling will become immediate upon a reconnection. This is just inherently the case when using this protocol because it already has this capability.

The other service that uses this is TransAct.

We are working very hard today to get this done. Should be out Monday or Tuesday. This is why we have been kind of slow with responses on this board, in case anyone has noticed that.

How is this handled with TT, is the remaining child order cancelled immediately upon reconnect or is there a delay? If delay, do you plan to also update this to cancel immediately?

In 990, it is an immediate cancellation for TT.

Since now we are standardizing on FIX and GSP for order handling, this is how it's going to be across all services.
