This is the relevant message:
Failed to login to CTS T4. Reason: Failed | 2010-07-26 07:42:00 We believe this is due to using the wrong username and password under File >> Data/Trade Service Settings. Please check the username and password there and then connect to the data feed again by selecting File >> Connect to Data Feed. The Locked out message probably indicates too many connection attempts that have failed. So you need to wait until you try connecting to the data feed again.

I'm not certain its putting in an invalid user name and password into the cts log in, I just tried reinserting username and password and was very careful about it but still get the same result.
Any ideas? |

No. At this point you must contact CTS support or your broker. The message that you see originates from the CTS system.

I contacted my broker but before having him follow up on the issue, if I left my office computer running and it has sierra up (I don't think I did), could this be the cause? I am out of town so unable to verify right now. Thank you.

If that were the cause, the error message we think would be different. It probably would say something like you're connected from another location. In our experience "failed" does indicate an invalid username or password. We've seen it before.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled an older version and got a different error message, something about a socket error: " Reason: Socket_Write Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. | 2010-07-26 13:56:29"

We don't know what this means:
Disconnected from CTS T4. Reason: Socket_Write Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. | 2010-07-26 13:56:29 This comes from the CTS T4 software. Only a CTS engineer can answer this one. We've never seen this message before. This is getting more complicated now. You should go back to the version that was giving you the "failed" error.

Another thing to check is to make certain that you have selected Use Live Server in File >>Data/Trade Service Settings. And make certain you have the correct Firm setting.

Its back up and running, was something with t4 log in, don't know if logged in wrong initially or because didn't have t4 downloaded onto my laptop and then sierra. But my clearing firm was able to get it running. You were right, thank you.
On a separate issue. I pretty much just trade hog and cattle spreads. Is there a way to get the future months turned on so that by the time they become tradeable there is some historical data? Should I just go through about a year in advance and forward you the symbols that will likely be used or do you have any efficient suggestions? Thanks for the help! |

Hi,
This would be great if it could be automated. I mainly trade calendar spreads and sometimes butterflies for hogs and cattle. 85% is calendar spreads and sometimes butterflies/double butterflies so if its difficult to automate for butterflies no problem but it would be great if it could be done for calendar spreads. Yes we have a solution. All spreads will be available. We are going to be releasing version 631 next week and it will support historical data from CTS and that will include all spreads. We have worked this out with them.

But before all of you get overly excited, we need to let you know that we have hard time with the CTS T4 API. Their API from our perspective is not easy to work with. There could be problems with the downloading. We hope everything works well but at this stage, it's not necessarily going to be perfect and optimal. There certainly is not the speed and performance and reliability compared to our system.

Hi,
Just downloaded v632, I'm thinking this includes the automation of turning on cts spreads? If so, do we need to click on symbols to start having data being recorded or will it turn on automatically from time the automation tool was implemented in v631 (ie. around end of August going forward)? Either way that's great, just want to see what needs to be done to get data for future spread symbols. Thanks! |

Yes, 632 will give you historical data on any spread you want without having to make a request to us for it. There is nothing special to do. Simply open up the chart as normal and be sure you are on version 632.
