Sierra Chart Real Time and Historical FOREX Data Service

Introduction

Sierra Chart offers with certain software service packages, currently 3 high quality real-time and historical intraday Forex data services. These services are supported by high capacity redundant data servers and the most advanced real-time server software. All maintained and developed by Sierra Chart. A large number of Forex pairs are available. Historical Daily charts are also available for all currency pairs and are included with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service.

Very detailed tick by tick data for intraday charts is available back to December 2007. Historical daily charts go back 10+ years.

Setup Instructions

1. You need to be on a software service package that includes this service. If your current package does not include this service, you can change your package here. If you are a trial user, you will be on a package that includes this service. However, you will not have access to historical daily data on a trial. Although, you will have access to historical intraday data for intraday charts.
2. If you wish to use this service along with another supported Data or Trading service that you are using Sierra Chart with also, it is highly recommended that you install a second copy of Sierra Chart and configure it to work with the Sierra Chart Real-Time Forex Data Service. For more information see Multiple Services. If you only wish to use this service, then there is no need to install a second copy of Sierra Chart.
3. Select Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings on the menu.
4. In the Service list box select SC Forex Data (FXCM**), Ajax Forex, or SC Forex Data (Choice FX). Choice FX Forex data is provided by CFH Markets. If you do not receive data from one of these data feeds, you can use another.
5. Set the other controls in this window as appropriate.
6. Click OK.

7. Select File >> Connect to Data Feed.
8. To open an Intraday chart, select File >> Find Symbol and Open Chart. Select a symbol from the list and click OK. Alternatively, you can select File >> New/Open Intraday Chart. Type a symbol in the Filename box or select an existing symbol, and press the Open button.
   
   To open a Historical chart, select File >> New/Open Historical Chart. Type a symbol in the Filename box or select an existing symbol, and press the Open button. To be able to access historical charts you need to be on a Sierra Chart package that includes the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service. The supported supported symbols can be found in the list below.

Symbols

The following table lists the symbols you can use with this service. If there is no suffix such as -BID, then you will receive the average of the Bid and Ask. This does not apply to the historical daily charts. For a description of the suffixes see Recording Modes.

For a complete list of symbols for Historical Charts please see the Historical Daily Forex Symbols page. The ^ character does not need to be entered, although it can be. The symbols are 6 letters each.
